    Approach* · The method behind every engagement2026 · 02 / Approach

Craft and conversion run in parallel.
    That’s the whole method.

Every engagement runs two tracks at once: a Polish track for brand, creative, and production, and a Pixel track for measurement, media, and analytics. They meet at three gates. Two of those gates are buyable on their own.

    Tracks02
    Phases04
    Gates03
    01 / Foundation

    The origin of
    the method.

This approach didn't start in a pitch deck. It was forged inside hotel brands and agencies where the gap between strategy and execution was often fatal, and where the same four failures kept appearing.

    01

    Transparency as default.

Most agencies hide behind vanity metrics and jargon, hoping clients won't ask the hard questions. We build every report around numbers we can defend.

    02

    Strategy that stays bespoke.

The pitch is custom thinking. The reality is often a playbook run on autopilot. We keep the plan in motion and specific to the brand.

    03

    Senior attention where it matters.

Big accounts get the senior minds. Independent brands with the most to say often get junior bench time. We keep our account load low so quality stays high.

    04

    Relationships, not handcuffs.

Long contracts and percent-of-spend fees reward inertia over outcomes. We work month-to-month once the foundation is built, because the work should earn the renewal.

    So we built something different*

Pixel & Polish was started to close the gap. Transparency as the default, not a marketing line. Strategy that stays bespoke and stays in motion. Senior attention for independent brands. Short contracts that become month-to-month partnerships. We keep our account load light enough that quality never slips, and we say no when the fit isn't right.

Real people, doing good work, with people we like.
    — A.P.
    02 / Conviction

    The Approach
    Manifesto.

    01 · Craft & conversion

We never split craft from conversion.

Beauty without performance is decoration. Performance without beauty is forgettable. Both sides have to work.

    02 · Hospitality as training

Hospitality is training, not a ceiling.

Running a boutique hotel means managing a product, a service, a real estate asset, and a reputation engine all at once. If you can grow bookings there, other categories feel familiar.

    03 · The brand, itself

    The brand is the strategy.

How you look, sound, and feel isn't a layer on top of strategy. It is the strategy. We build brands that make the marketing easier.

    04 · How we staff

    Small teams. Senior work.

Every engagement runs lean and senior. The people who sold the work are the people doing the work.

    05 · Fit over fee

We say no more than yes.

We take on work only when we believe we can move the number. If the fit isn't there, we say so on the first call.

06 · Pricing, in the open

    Our prices are published.

Surprise invoices make for bad first impressions. We publish costs so we can decide fit before anyone spends a meeting on it.

    Two tracks. Four phases.
    Three gates.

Polish runs across the top: brand, creative, production. Pixel runs along the bottom: measurement, media, analytics. The two tracks converge at three gates, where one joint artifact is signed off before either side moves forward. Two of those gates can be bought on their own and credit forward toward a full engagement.

    What are we working with?

    Weeks 1–3
    3 weeks

Before we decide where to go, we figure out where we actually are. Ground is a three-week audit phase that runs every engagement: a complete, honest read of your brand, your market, your measurement infrastructure, and the gap between what you think is happening and what the data says is happening. Every Polish finding pairs with a Pixel finding. Every recommendation is defensible from both sides.

    Frame.

Where are we going, and how will we measure?

    Weeks 3–6
    3 weeks

With the ground truth established, Frame turns findings into direction. Polish sets the strategic and visual posture: positioning, voice, creative concept. Pixel sets the measurement and media architecture: KPI tree, forecast model, channel plan. The two tracks produce a single document at the end: The Frame. Nothing gets built in Phase 03 until both sides are aligned on this document.

With positioning and measurement locked, Build is where the engagement gets physical. Brand systems get designed and documented. Sites get built. Photo and video production happens. Campaigns get architected and QA'd. Tracking gets implemented and validated. Partnership

Launch is not the finish line. Compound is where good work turns into compounding returns: iteration on creative, optimization on media, refreshes on content, evolution of the brand as the business learns what it is. There's no gate at the end of Compound because there's no end. The engagement becomes a partnership, reviewed quarterly and renewed annually, with senior team members on both sides still in the room.

    POLISH* · The craft side

The brand stays alive and in motion.

    *

Creative iteration — ad creative, landing page variants, seasonal campaigns. Built against what the data says is working.

    *

Content cadence — editorial, social, email. A rhythm the brand can sustain past the engagement.

    *

Brand evolution — small, disciplined updates as the business grows. Not rebrands, refinements.

    *

Quarterly reviews — strategic resets with leadership. What we're keeping, what we're killing, what we're trying.

    Ongoing*

No closing gate. The work becomes a partnership, not a project.

    PIXEL* · The conversion side

The numbers stay honest and accountable.

    How we staff*

    Small teams. Senior work.

Three roles form the core of every engagement: a strategist, a creative director, and a performance lead. The same three people who run the first call run the engagement from kickoff through every quarterly review. Production crews — designers, developers, photographers, editors — flex in and out by phase, briefed by the core.

The people who sell the engagement are the people who deliver it. That has consequences for how many engagements we can run at once. We’d rather take fewer and stay in the room.

Plus: production crew, specialist designers, and developers, scoped by phase, briefed by the core.

    Questions we hear often*

    Before you ask.

The real questions that come up on first calls, answered the way we’d answer them on a first call.

Start with a Ground Report. $10K, three weeks. It'll tell you whether you actually need a brand yet or whether you need positioning and a pricing model first. A lot of 'we need a brand' conversations turn out to be 'we need to know what we sell and to whom' conversations. If the Ground Report confirms brand is the next move, it credits forward toward a Brand Sprint ($25K / 6 weeks). Most first-time clients come in through this path.
Yes, but honestly — less often than you'd expect. Most 'the paid agency is fine' situations turn out to be 'we haven't benchmarked the paid agency against anyone else in 18 months.' A Ground Report audits both sides. You may come out of it confirming your paid agency is great, and we proceed with brand only. You may come out of it discovering things that make you want to consolidate. Either outcome is fine. The work runs better when both halves are on one team, but we won't force it if the fit isn't there.
One decision-maker with the authority to approve brand, creative, and budget — that's the minimum. For most engagements, that person is the founder, CEO, or CMO. It also helps to have one operational contact who can pull analytics access, set up working sessions, and answer logistical questions. That can be the same person or an executive assistant. Everything else we handle on our side. We've run full engagements with founder-only teams. It works. It requires the founder being reachable about twice a week for an hour.
That's what Frame is for. Most brands don't know their KPIs on day one — they have revenue targets, some loose ideas about bookings or conversions, and a feeling that things could be better measured. The Frame phase builds the KPI tree: the one number you're optimizing, the inputs you control, and the leading indicators that move first. If you come in with KPIs already, we'll pressure-test them. If you come in without any, we'll build them with you. Either path lands at the same place — a measurement framework everyone on your team can point to.
Yes, with a caveat. Pre-launch work is mostly Polish — naming, positioning, brand system, launch site, production. The Pixel side has less to work with until there's a product in market and customers to measure against. For pre-launch engagements we usually run a Brand Sprint + Website Redesign in parallel, shoot production assets for launch, and defer the full Pixel stack until 30 days post-launch when there's real data. It's a cleaner sequence and a smaller initial investment.
One named approver, always. That person can (and should) consult with stakeholders, but feedback comes back to us through one voice, consolidated. This is the single biggest predictor of whether a brand engagement ships on time. We'll help structure internal review processes if you want, but we won't run design-by-committee. Feedback in three rounds maximum per deliverable, consolidated by the approver before it reaches us. Committees are how good work dies.
Design in Figma. Writing in Google Docs or Notion. Project management in Linear or Asana, your call. Communication in Slack. Analytics in GA4, Tag Manager, Looker Studio or BigQuery for heavier reporting. Paid platforms: Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, plus the travel-specific stack — Google Hotel Ads, Trivago, Kayak, Tripadvisor, SOJERN, Koddi. We're platform-agnostic on CMS — WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Sanity, whatever fits. We are opinionated about measurement: GA4 plus a proper warehouse for anything above five million sessions a year.
We sign mutual NDAs standard, on our form or yours. All engagements include confidentiality language by default. On competitors: we don't work with direct competitors in the same micro-market at the same time. A boutique hotel in Savannah and a boutique hotel in Napa? Fine — different markets. Two boutique hotels three blocks apart in Charleston? We'd decline the second one until the first engagement ends. We'll tell you on the first call if there's a potential conflict.
